Chennai based Numeric Power Systems Limited, yet again emerged the SD's No. 1 Power Electronic Company of the Year. Numeric's leadership continues unabated for the sixteenth consecutive year. The total turnover of the company was 430.45 crores up from 337.67 crores in 2006-2007, a growth of over 27%. Numeric's are also the undisputed king of Online UPSs out of 430.45 crores of total turnover, Online UPS accounted for 357.45 crores which enabled it to win the coveted SD's No. 1 Online UPS Manufacturer of the year award by a huge margin. The company which only since last few years have ventured into Line-interactive UPS manufacturing, topped that list too claiming the coveted SD's No. 1 Offline/Line-interactive UPS Manufacturer of the year award with sales amounting to 73.00 crores selling 338635 units of line-interactive UPSs.
Numeric brings a wide range of World class power conditioning products addressing the total spectrum of power protection needs meeting International specification conforming UL / CE with RoHS compliance. The company has ISO 14001:2004 certification from BVQI and Numeric is also the only UPS company to have SA 8000 certification to its credit. Overwhelming response provided to the Numeric products is due to the very high quality and highest service standards setup by its over 220 branches/service centres & over dealers in India and eight world class manufacturing units located in Chennai, Pondicherry, Parvanoo and Colombo in Sri Lanka manned by over 1700 personnel. The 3rd India International Conference on Power Electronics IICPE 2006 was held from December 19 to December 21, 2006 at Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Chennai. The conference was inaugurated by Padmashri Dr.R.M.Vasagam, former Vice Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai. Shri.S.Sunderesh, Director CVRDE, Ministry of Defence was the guest of honour during the ocassion. Mr. R. Chellappan, MD, Numeric Power Systems Ltd gave the Welcome Address, Dr. M. Ponnavaiko, Chairman, IEEE Madras Section did the felicitations and Dr. Suresh Chandra Pal, Past Chairman, IEEE Madras Section gave the vote of thanks.
Eminent Professors / Power Electronics specialists from the US, Canada, Germany, Singapore and India in the field of Advanced Technology contributed to the forum with their latest innovations and as well as fundamentals through keynote lectures and tutorials. |

Powerful future through Technology Innovations
The Power Electronics Society is one of the technical societies of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) helps in the development and effective application of power electronics technology. PELS chapters throughout the world help members stay with the latest developments.
Mr. R Chellappan, an active member of IEEE, Chairman of PELS Madras Chapter, initiated and formed the Chapter in Chennai during December 2005. Already under the Leadership various activities within PELS were conducted including conferences and workshops to provide the forum with the latest advances in power electronics research.
PELS Madras Chapter is organizing an India International event IICPE 2006 on Power Electronics on "Powerful future through Technology Innovations" from 19 - 21st Dec 2006 in Chennai. The International Conference is aimed at power Engineering professionals and Academic Researchers to exchange up to date knowledge, experience and views on key areas of Electrical Power Engineering and Power System Technology.
