The 3rd India International Conference on Power Electronics IICPE 2006 was held from December 19 to December 21, 2006 at Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Chennai. The conference was inaugurated by Padmashri Dr.R.M.Vasagam, former Vice Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai. Shri.S.Sunderesh, Director CVRDE, Ministry of Defence was the guest of honour during the ocassion. Mr. R. Chellappan, MD, Numeric Power Systems Ltd gave the Welcome Address, Dr. M. Ponnavaiko, Chairman, IEEE Madras Section did the felicitations and Dr. Suresh Chandra Pal, Past Chairman, IEEE Madras Section gave the vote of thanks.
Eminent Professors / Power Electronics specialists from the US, Canada, Germany, Singapore and India in the field of Advanced Technology contributed to the forum with their latest innovations and as well as fundamentals through keynote lectures and tutorials.

French UPS major and global leader in UPS technology Socomec SA and Indian UPS manufacturer and market leader Numeric Power Systems Ltd are setting up a Joint Venture to distribute sell and service the state-of-the-art 3 Phase range of Socomec UPS products in India with effect from the 16 June 2006. The new joint venture Company will function under the name Socomec-Numeric UPS Pvt Limited with its headquarters in Chennai, India.
Under this joint venture agreement signed on Wednesday in Benfeld France by Socomec’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. KIM Pascal and NUMERIC”s Managing Director Mr. R.Chellappan, the new venture will focus on addressing the fast-growing Indian market with latest technology UPS systems that offer high performance, unmatched reliability, availability and maximum efficiency, while matching the demands of the present generation IT loads in mission critical applications without any de-ration of the UPS capacity.
Talking to the press during the signing ceremony, Mr KIM said, “It is very natural for us to come together because both our companies are committed towards offering best products and solutions and dedicated support to our valued customers”.
